On Monday 13th July 2026 we released NEMwatch v10.4 for our clients.
… you can access the installer from the ‘Downloads’ page here.
Upgraded for Project EnergyConnect (PEC)
The headline enhancement is the upgrade of NEMwatch in preparation for the introduction of Project EnergyConnect (PEC), which is expected to come into AEMO market data (technically PEC Stage 2) from 1st October 2026.
… so you’ll want to have upgraded to v10.4 prior to that time.
What is Project EnergyConnect (PEC?)
On 18th May 2026 we published the article ‘The *basics* of how Project Energy Connect will appear in NEM Data‘ on WattClarity that explains what’s coming:
Once PEC Stage 2 goes live, there will likely be more articles on WattClarity assessing its impact.
Changes in NEMwatch?
For NEMwatch v10.4 there have been changes made at several levels:
Changes in the installed software
These changes include:
1) At a basic level, the new interconnector now appears on the map on the left side of the display:
(a) Prior to PEC stage 2 going live, it shows 0MW for all three numbers (Target Flow, Import/Export Limits)
(b) From the point that PEC Stage 2 goes live (expected 1st Oct 2026) the data will be as calculated in NEMDE by AEMO and published to the market
2) In more detail this has also meant:
(a) There is now an Interconnector Chart called ‘PEC’ that is selectable:
i. It shows that shows data for the interconnector:
1. dispatch, trading and P30 pre-dispatch data
2. for Target Flow, and Import/Export Limits
ii. and also the ‘Price Spread’ between NSW and SA
iii. Refer here for more information
(b) The logic for ‘Economic Islands’ has been updated:
i. The logic to define ‘Economic Islands’ has been updated:
1. To include PEC.
2. But also to account for DC interconnectors (which are now all Regulated links, following the transition of Basslink from 1st July 2026).
ii. In the case of ‘Economic Islands’:
1 the calculation (and display) of Instantaneous Reserve Plant Margin (IRPM) has been updated; and
2. the use of red outlines on the map has been updated.
(c) The logic for Alarms has been updated (see more below).
Changes in data delivery
To facilitate this upgrade, we have changed the data delivery path:
1) Formerly it was datastripe1.com and datastripe2.com
2) Now it is nemwatchservices.global-roam.com
So, if you need to whitelist certain URLs, you will need to take this into account.
Other developments
In addition to the above, it’s worth specifically highlighting the following
Enhancements to Alarms
Remember that there are two avenues through which to trigger alarms in NEMwatch, as described on this Help Page.
‘Local Alarms’ within the Application
‘Local Alarms’ are configured within NEMwatch and run on your local copy (i.e. so only evaluated if NEMwatch is running).
With respect to these alarms, we made the following enhancements/corrections:
1) The ‘NSW to SA interconnector’ (i.e. PEC) is not selectable in the alarm logic
2) And also we made some corrections:
(a) Separation alarms (CheckSeparatedFrom) now correctly fire when the separation is greater than or equal to the configured amount.
(b) Corrected alarm percentage formulas to calculate consistently.
(c) Added divide-by-zero guards in IRPM and alarm percentage calculations.
‘Remote Alarms’ (in Platinum Model)
These are configured through the software, but evaluated in the cloud (i.e. even if your copy of NEMwatch is not running) and delivers an SMS alert to your entered phone number.
With these alerts:
1) The NSW to SA interconnector is selectable
2) And, due to changes required at ACMA from (prior to) 1st July 2026:
(a) The ‘Sender Name’ can be selectable from:
i. The registered mobile number we use to provide this service; or
ii. Your choice of two registered String IDs – ‘NEMalerts’ or ‘GlobalRoam’
(b) For more details, see the article ‘SMS Sender ID Register goes live to help protect Australians from scams’ from ACMA
Retirement of the ECA Widget
It’s also worth recording here that, in June 2026, we also retired the ‘ECA Widget’ after 10 years of service. We appreciated being of service to EnergyConsumersAustralia.
There’s more information about this retirement maintained on this legacy page.
Miscellaneous Bug Fixes & Other
There’s a range of other enhancements made to the software, including bug fixes – including the following:
1) Stability & crash fixes
(a) Various minor crash fixes applied
2) Display & layout
(a) Eliminated spurious “Save Layout” prompts appearing during normal use (including a leftover WEPI trigger and an economic-island element-height trigger).
(b) The Reset/Save Layout dialog no longer reappears on every restart after a crash.
(c) Removed the SOO / Region Forecast Demand bars from the Supply and Demand Reference chart.
3) Data
(a) Historical data queries are now correct 30-minute aggregates.
(b) Fixed errors occurring at summary data boundaries (the 1st of each month).
(c) Updated weather station IDs for retired stations (such as for Adelaide)
4) Installer & packaging
(a) NEM-Watch.exe and the MSI are now code-signed.
5) Configuration & service URLs
(a) Manage-licence link updated to https://orders.global-roam.com/.
(b) we have changed the data delivery path:
i. Formerly it was datastripe1.com and datastripe2.com
ii. Now it is nemwatchservices.global-roam.com
Switching off versions < v10.4
As noted above:
1) PEC Stage 2 is planned for go-live from 1st October 2026
2) To cater for this in NEMwatch v10.4 we are now running duplicated data delivery streams:
(a) One for legacy versions
(b) One for NEMwatch v10.4
The legacy data stream will be switched off after PEC Stage 2 goes live and all older versions of NEMwatch will be disabled, and will no longer run.
1) Our target date for decommissioning is Monday 2nd November 2026.
2) You will need to have upgraded prior to that time to continue enjoying NEMwatch.
