The Update Process
NEM-Watch is a tool which displays data that NEMMCO publishes regarding the National Electricity Market. NEM-Watch uses a sophisticated process for getting the data and turning it into something that is understandable to you. The NEM-Watch update process also uses data from the Bureau of Meteorology and other data providers. There are several steps to this process.
- The first step is for NEMMCO (market data), the Bureau of Meteorology
(weather data) and d-cyphaTrade (WEPI data) to publish the data. All
data in NEM-Watch comes from sources such as these. NEMMCO publishes
data updates in the public domain on the NEM-Web information site (see diagram).
- There is quite a lot of data on this server, but it is difficult to decipher,
which is why we have created our NEM-Watch Servers to do so for you. The
NEM-Watch server takes all of the data that NEMMCO publish and filters and
processes this data so that it is formatted in such a way that NEM-Watch can
understand it (and your bandwidth usage is minimised). Our server then
publishes the data in a location that is accessible by your copy of NEM-Watch.
- Finally, your copy of NEM-Watch will access new data from one of the data
servers. So that you know exactly what is happening, you are able to see
which data server is currently being accessed by your copy of NEM-Watch while
data is being downloaded (this is done through a status indicator on your screen,
which is placed just below the NEM-Watch tool bar).
