Playback

To help you visualise recent market history, we have included in NEM-Watch (Bronze, Silver and Gold Models) the ability to "play back" through this history on a time-sequential basis.

When you first start NEM-Watch, it will download up to 24 hours of recent market history and save this in the local Access database. If you keep NEM-Watch running continuously, NEM-Watch will store up to 30 days of recent history. All this data is accessible during play back.

To initiate Playback:

  1. Click the "Playback" option; and
  2. Then click the "play" button.
  3. NEM-Watch will ask you how far back or forwards you wish to start. Enter the time and date and then hit the "OK" button.
  4. NEM-Watch will start at this time and then step through sequentially, one dispatch interval at a time.
  5. You may pause, step forward or slow down and speed up the playback by using the controls in the play back box on the map.

Please note that NEM-Watch only receives data sets when they are first published by NEMMCO (specifically, any revisions to price, or other data released after the fact, are not updated by NEM-Watch). You should keep this in mind when reviewing the history stored in NEM-Watch.

Combining PlayBack with the Screenshot feature can provide you a powerful ability to keep a clear record of important events, as and when they occur in the market (such as we did for 16th January 2007).

In the same way that you can Play Back through recent market history, NEM-Watch allows you to Play Forward through NEMMCO's predispatch market forecasts (Silver and Gold Model only).
